For outboards
that require a 50:1 premix of oil/gas we've put together the following
chart to simplify the calculations.
2-stroke outboards:
Only use 2-stroke outboard
motor oil with a NMMA
(National Marine Manufacturer's
Assoc.) certified rating
of TCW-3. Never use automobile
motor oil in your 2-stroke
outboard!
TLDI outboards: TLDI outboards should only be operated
using TCW-3 oil specifically
formulated for
use in Direct Injection
motors. Standard
TCW-3 oil is NOT recommended
for use in TLDI outboards.
The following oils have been tested by our factory and
certified for use in TLDI
outboard motors:
-
Tohatsu Marine Premium Oil
- Nissan Marine Premium Oil
-
Pennzoil Complete Marine Synthetic
-
Pennzoil Semi-Synthetic Outboard Oil
-
Mercury Optimax/DFI Oil
-
Yamaha Yamalube 2-M Semi-Synthetic Injector Oil
-
Bombardier RAM Ficht Oil
The above oil brands are currently the only brands that have been
tested and approved by
our factory for use in
TLDI outboard systems.
Brand names listed are
trademarked by their respective
owners.
Unleaded gasoline
with a minimum octane rating of 87 is necessary, however, we recommend
using an octane rating of 89 if possible for best performance.
The oil and gas mixture
is 50:1 (25:1 during the
initial break-in period).
CUSTOMER TIP:
Since trying to mix 1.28
ounces of oil to a half
gallon of gas can be little
difficult to measure out,
many people find it easier
to purchase a 6 gallon
fuel tank and mix 1 pint
of oil (16 ounces) with
the gasoline. Then use
the 6 gallon pre-mixed
fuel tank to fill up your
individual smaller tank(s)
that you will be using
on your boat.

Information

128 ounces = 1 gallon 1 ounce = 0.0296
liters 16 ounces = 1 pint 1 gallon = 3.789 liters 2 pints = 1
quart 4 quarts = 1 gallon
Example of calculation: GALLONS X 128
(ounces) / RATIO = OUNCES OF OIL TO MIX WITH GAS
6 gallons X 128 (ounces) / 50 (50:1 ratio) =
15.36 ounces of oil for 6 gallons of gas.
6 gallons X 8 (pints) / 50 (50:1 ratio) = 0.96
pints of oil for 6 gallons of
gas. |
